Movember is Motorclassica official charity partner

Movember has been chosen as the official charity partner of Motorclassica 2014, to be held at Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Building from October 24-26.

As the perfect prelude to Movember's global annual fundraising campaign for the support of men's health, which begins just days after Motorclassica, Australia's premier automotive event will support the charitable initiative in several ways.

Central to Movember's presence at Motorclassica will be its Mo'asis chill-out zone within the 'Club Sandwich' outdoor car and motorcycle club displays, which will surround the world-heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building.

Motorclassica visitors and exhibitors alike will be encouraged to visit the Mo'asis, kick back and relax, learn more about men's health issues and contribute to the very worthy cause.

Movember will also be given the honour of leading the annual Tour Classica, which will kick off Motorclassica with a parade from Melbourne Zoo through to the Royal Exhibition Building, on Thursday morning October 23.

"Like Motorclassia, Movember is a Melbourne-grown initiative that has spread its influence across the globe, and we are delighted to partner with it this year," Motorclassica Event Director Paul Mathers said.

"Given that a high percentage of our patrons are male, Motorclassica is the perfect vehicle to promote the Movember message and interact with the target audience, and coming just days before Movember kicks off, it's the ideal timing.

"Movember's involvement with Motorclassica this year will be a bit of fun but behind it, is a serious and important message about men's health."

Movember challenges men to grow moustaches during Movember (the month formerly known as November) to raise vital funds for more than 800 programs being conducted in 21 countries, in the areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.

Jeremy Macvean, Movember's Asia Pacific Director, said the partnership with Motorclassica is the perfect vehicle to encourage men to consider their health ahead of the hairy month.

"We'll be challenging motor enthusiasts at the event to throw their support behind the moustache and get growing when Movember kicks off a few days later," said Jeremy.

Motorclassica is an annual mecca for automotive enthusiasts, uniquely mixing rare and exotic, historic, vintage, veteran, classic and collectable cars and motorcycles, plus automotive memorabilia, models and other collectibles.

This year's event at Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Building will see more than 150 cars and motorcycles on show inside its 19th century halls, plus another 380 cars and motorcycles over the weekend in the adjacent 'Club Sandwich' displays, which are proudly presented by Lorbek Luxury Cars.
